A love affair with watercolour…
My story
My work has a bright, fresh quality with a sense of movement and memory.
What calls to me is the beauty of the small moments. Flowers swaying in the breeze in my neighbourhood, soft sheets drying on the line, my daughter eating summer berries. I remember when I was a child finding hidden dog roses at the edge of the forest near our house or pushing my nose into the lilacs blooming in the spring. Our world seems to move so fast now and there is a nostalgia to those moments of slowness that inspires me.
After completing a degree in Fashion Design I worked for 12 years in the fashion industry for companies all over the world. When my partner and I moved to Montreal and had our baby I decided to stay home with her and follow a secret longing to paint. Stepping into that dream of becoming an artist is a journey that is constantly unfolding.
Inspiration is everywhere
I love where I live in the Plateau neighbourhood of Montreal. The houses are so beautiful with their twirling staircases outside and when spring comes the flowers bloom around every corner. I love painting flowers from my small front yard garden or buying them from my local farmer’s market.
